What Is An Edge Crack?

Edge Windshield Cracks are caused because of a "weak spot" in the windshield and is a direct result of a manufacturing defect. All vehicle types that have long cracks, 90% of the time occur near the edge of the windshield. Due to residual stress that's in your vehicle's windshield when installed by the manufacturer are prone to fracture when induced stress is disrupted by an object striking a windshield such as a rock or small stone. When a windshield is installed there's a natural defect that takes place and the windshield edge area has a bulge of tension that causes this area to fracture 3.5 times easier than any other part of the windshield. To successfully execute a windshield repair for an edge crack, you will need a highly experienced and trained windshield repair technician with the right tools and structural adhesive resin to restore your vehicle's windshield to pre-loss condition. Edge Crack

90% of all cracks in a windshield are edge cracks. To fix your edge crack we use the Ultra Bond patented, lab tested Structural Adhesive Resin, and Crack Master Bridge. The Crack Master Tool set, comes equipped the Wonder Bar and Crack Opener. This tool set does a lot more, in fact too much to list; however, it enables us to flex open your windshield and wick the windshield to forge structural adhesive resin into the crack,  creating an overfill, and thus effectively repairing your windshield.

We use the Ultra Bond invented windshield crack repair resins, which are structural adhesives which means the bonding when curing actually bonds the elements within the glass. We use the 1600 or 2400 CPS for edge cracks and is able to work on hot windshields. So don't worry about what time a day, we have special resins that can handle and temperature range.
